The British Army Receives Modernized M270A2 Multiple Rocket Launcher Systems
The British Army received the first two modernized M270A2 Multiple Rocket Launcher Systems shipped to the UK after the completion of live firing tests in the USA.
The M270A2 represents the most advanced model of the tracked MLRS family to date, which has been in the British inventory for decades. The A2 standard developed by Lockheed Martin within the scope of the modernization efforts of the US Army; It combines a redesigned armored crew cabin, new engine and transmission, suspension improvements and the Common Fire Control System (CFCS).
British defense officials stated that the delivered vehicles were delivered in full compliance with the A2 configuration, including digital fire control software compatible with US Army systems, to ensure interoperability within NATO.

The delivery of the first system was completed after firing and acceptance tests conducted in the United States together with US Army troops. Conducting tests abroad allowed British crews to validate the new digital fire control architecture, GPS and inertial navigation systems, and mechanical improvements under realistic operational conditions.
The modernized armored cabin provides increased protection against artillery shrapnel, small arms fire and blast threats. With a 600-horsepower diesel engine, the M270A2 continues to maintain a top road speed of approximately 64 kilometers per hour and an operational range of approximately 480 kilometers. This structure allows for rapid redeployment in environments where counter-battery radars and long-range surveillance are effective.
